Spur Digital announces $25,000 in-kind sponsorship of Prepared for Life to plan and implement its website and marketing strategy for Lemonade Day. Spur Digital’s Founder and CEO encourages volunteerism and altruism among team.
Houston, TX (January 31, 2008) - Spur Digital, a leading interactive marketing agency based in Houston, TX, announces a $25,000 in-kind sponsorship of Prepared for Life (P4L), a non-profit organization that teaches life skills, character development and entrepreneurship to youth in the greater Houston area.
Spur Digital CEO Steve Latham continues to serve on the P4L board and as the Media / Communications Chair, a position he has held for the past year. He and the Spur Digital Team will again work closely with P4L to plan and implement its website and marketing strategy for Lemonade Day, an annual event that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own lemonade business.
“Being involved in the community is nothing new to Spur Digital,” according to Peter Parker, Creative Director. “Volunteerism and altruism are greatly encouraged and are part of our culture,” he said. Spur Digital teams have been active in the Periwinkle Foundation and Air Houston, as well as P4L. Parker estimates that Spur volunteers have contributed approximately 693 hours in professional services and various other capacities to community events over the past year.
Parker added that the inspiration and encouragement for Spur Digital employees to volunteer comes directly from the top. “Steve Latham models the spirit of caring and community involvement. It’s part of his character as a leader.”
Latham also serves a coordinator and advisor to Goodwill Industries and well as on the boards of several business and industry-related organizations including the Houston Interactive Marketing Association, the Houston Advertising Federation and the Houston Technology Center.
Latham, who starting experimenting with entrepreneurship in junior high school, believes that the courage and determination to become an entrepreneur is instilled in young people at an early age. “You have to want something bad enough to work for it. Kids need to feel empowered and to believe that they can make things happen and achieve their own dreams.”
“I believe in helping others,” Latham said. “But more importantly, I believe in causes that help others help themselves. And that’s what Prepared 4 Life does. That’s why Spur Digital supports their mission.”
