The Houston Museum of Natural Science’s BODY WORLDS 3 highlighted Gunther von Hagens’ thirty-year career in anatomy and his use of plastination in an exhibit that showed us what human beings are really “made of.” Spur Digital promoted the fun-through-learning experience of the exhibit by bringing it to life on the web through the creation of the HoustonBodyWorlds3.com microsite and interactive Flash banner ads. The site featured a section for visitors to download posters, wallpapers and buddy icons and a “Fun Stuff” section with interactive features that encouraged visitors to slice and magnify the human body online. In addition, the microsite encouraged visitors to enter to win monthly prize giveaways and a grand-prize all-inclusive Mexico spa resort package for two, announcements for which were sent by email. Body World’s click-through rates skyrocketed over the course of the campaign, and to date has had 24 million impressions, 91 thousand visits, and 12 thousand contest entries.
